"Downstairs very claustrophobic, quality poor either too rich or bland, did not make for a very pleasant dining experience."

"Try the lamb pie or the fish pie they are both to die for. The seating can be a little constricting. Good for couples or 4ppl not good for large groups. The food is what sells is for me."

"I went last night (18th May 2004) and found this place to be hugely overpriced. The service was OK but they forgot to give me a knife for the main course. Onion soup v avge, £17 Lamb dish was overcooked and therefore tough. Disappointing."

"Very over priced, particularly the wine list. A cramped, gloomy, rustic setting that should not be mistaken for charm. The food is unimaginative and the cooking basic. The staff are not particularly attentive or friendly and have difficulty negotiating the tables. On the whole it is little better than good cafe food for a high end price. There is a cover charge, added service and vegetables are extra to the already expensive main dish."

"I was introduced to the delights of Maggie Jones some 15 years ago by a friend and have been going there ever since. There is not one person I have taken there who has not enjoyed themselves, from the ambience to the service to the wine and the food, simply wonderful, excellent value."

"Found this gem a few weeks ago, and went back again with 2 female friends. What a great evening we all had, they are both vegetarian, and I was a little concerned they wouldn't enjoy it, they loved it, and we all had such a great time, we have booked a table for 8 in early Feb 06. I haven’t a bad word to say about this place."

"Maggie Jones is one of my favourite London restaurants. The atmosphere is warm, more than a little cozy since it is close, and hearty in company and food. I stumbled upon it my first time, and that was a pleasant stumble.

"This restaurant's reputation is much higher than the actual quality. The ambience is defined as cosy but really there is little room to sit and the light is so soft you can hardly see what you're eating.
The food is fair but not outstanding, and not worth wasting money on. London offers better restaurants."

"Atmosphere is cosy although our particular table was constricting. Service was friendly, relaxed and attentive by mature waiters. Food choice favours the heavier dishes (traditional English not usually my favourite) but each one is well presented particularly tasty. Prices are reasonable for the high quality of food and the enjoyable experience. Well recommended."

"A fantastic restaurant, and my personal fave. The food is absolute quality, the atmosphere is unique (especially upstairs) and there is no sense of being rushed along by the staff. Slightly pricey, but you get what you pay for, which is excellent."

"I have been coming to Maggie J's for over 30 years and love it. Years ago I was given the recipe for the Chicken & Artichoke casserole by the restaurant. I have loved that recipe and made it many times. Recently I have moved and have the lost my copy of the recipe. Would you be so kind to send me another copy of that good casserole? Judy Hess"

"Simply the best restaurant in London and the UK, although it is a five hour drive from mid Wales it is worth the effort. We simply love the place.
