"What every American thinks or hopes a traditional English decor and menu will be. Does not disappoint. Beef excellent, decor absolutely wonderful and service in an old world manner. London with its best foot forward. Not snobby but lively and welcoming."

"A delight. Excellent game, seems healthy, nice ambience. I actually had pleasant conversations with two couples there, and one of them was from London, that is incredibly rare, so there you go."

"We loved it! We had the pheasant for 2, which was actually enough for 4! The service was superb, and the surroundings couldn't be more English.

It was the best meal of our trip and really quite reasonable. The pheasant, an oyster appetizer and tea was under £60, great value."

"Ambience - fantastic, but the beef was a little tough, and the yorkshire pud a little past it.

Roast potatoes would have been good too.

For the money, I expected better."

"We had the pre-theatre dinner (UKP 19.95 per person) and thought the food was excellent. The service and presentation were really special. And for whatever it is worth, when we were there it was mostly British patrons. And yes I made the reservations by e-mail."
