Restaurant Reviews - Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

"We have eaten in Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese twice so far both last year in 2003 - in May and December. I love that place above all other pubs/restaurants in London. From the odd archways and snugs in the cellar to the Chop Room and the Johnson Restaurant - it is honestly a trip back in time. And it's not only Ameican tourists you will encounter - we saw plenty of Brits there, as well. The food is hardy and well prepared. Look round the corner for Johnson House! A#1 London experience."

"An ideal venue to enjoy traditional roast beef in historic surroundings. To sit where Charles Dickens, or Dr Johnson sat, many years earlier, and enjoy good English food is a treat anyone proud of Britain can introduce to overseas visitors. I've never been disappointed since first visiting in 1975 ... thank you Mick, and staff!"

"Me and my buddy set it upon ourselves to check out as many pubs as possible. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese was one of our absolute favorites. There is no place better for a pint and a ploughman's lunch than down in the cellar of the Cheshire!"

"I was wild about Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese both times I visited from Denver, Colorado, first in 1998, and again in 2002. Just knowing Dickens and Dr. Johnson had entered through the same door, and perhaps sat on the same bench, gave me goose bumps. And as a great plus, the delicious dry cider, which is very difficult to find in Denver."

"Absolutely one of my favorites pubs in all of London. I was on a study group with other US students, and we went to have pints at the Cheshire Cheese nearly every Friday before hitting the clubs. I took my parents too when they came to visit. Wonderful atmosphere, and very traditional. An absolute MUST!"
