The Traditional English Restaurants of London

Your guide to English restaurants in London

Chelsea Kitchen

This has been around for so long that some people, with all the trendy new restaurants around, have almost tended to forget about it. However, it still has a devoted and longstanding band of supporters for its huge portions of very basic fare.

Don’t expect standards of the Ritz at this Chelsea retreat, because it certainly does look rather dated, some even describe it as scruffy. Its English food does lean on the solid side, generally described as ‘school food style’ – though the food at my alma mater was reasonably good - but, being positive, it really is extremely affordable.

Standards may not be incredibly high, nevertheless it’s pretty consistent with what it does produce, and it is undeniably good value given its Kings Road location.
