The Traditional English Restaurants of London

Your guide to English restaurants in London

The Well

The Well is a gastro-pub combining a popular bar area with a separate dining space. The menu changes on a monthly basis to encourage return visits but includes the likes of seared chicken livers with pancetta and balsamic dressing or pepper crusted tuna with sun dried tomato and aubergine compote to commence your meal with.

This might be followed by roast guinea fowl with a lemon and herb risotto and a chorizo and tomato sauce; seared monkfish with red curry sauce and basmati rice or braised lamb shank with potato gnocchi, that can be accompanied by a selection of side orders such as rocket and gorgonzola salad or parsley and garlic mash.

They offer a large range of non-mainstream draught lagers and a very well chosen and extensive wine list. They are justly famed for their Brunch Menu, which is available on Saturday and Sunday from 10.30 am to 1 pm.

The Downstairs room is available for private hire for parties of up to 70 people, it has a private cocktail bar where they can serve a full range of bottled beers, wines and spirits.

They can also provide canapes (just ask them to send you a menu). They have vinyl decks and can advise on DJs or you can bring your own. There is a charge for the hire of the decks.
