Green's Restaurant
This gives the appearance of having been established in the Victorian era, but is actually far more recent than that, only created in the 1980s.
Not the most feminine of restaurants, it is more like a gentleman’s club, but there is a determined clientele who love this place for its good quality and honest English victuals, fresh fish – an excellent Dover Sole, strangely hard to find these days - and game are specialities.
It is owned by Simon Parker Bowles, whose brother was formerly married to Camilla, Prince Charles’s consort.
Whilst it has very obvious appeal to the British, tourists also flock to it in considerable numbers.
It has great appeal to them, as not only is it situated in the middle of the now highly fashionable St James’s, but it also really fits with their image of an English restaurant.
