Restaurant Reviews - Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill

"Indifferent food and service with attitude - a "British Tradition" in the heart of the capital. A Saturday night visit was met with a feeling that the staff rather wished that we would go away, sit down in the corner or just not get in their way. The Crab Bisque was thin and weak but the Fish & Chips £12.50 were good - only let down by pureed frozen peas instead of mushy peas. Oh for Batchelor's. My partner's Dover Sole Meuniere would have been good if it hadn't been covered with capers, £23. The side orders of French beans and creamed potatoes were excellent but at £5 each a little pricy. The final straw was, having added 12.5% service and £2 cover charge, the credit slip was left open for further gratuities. "

"My partner and I visited Bentleys on a Tuesday night at around 22:30 and enjoyed a great meal and some great wine. The service was good except for it being near closing time and the waiting staff wanting us to leave. But the most important thing was the food, and it was wonderful! I had the Crisp Sea bass on a bed of aubergine caviar and crab mayonnaise. The cherry tomatoes with olive oil drizzled over the top was great to. The fish was full of flavour and the crab mayonnaise was tasty as you like! The lady had salmon, which she gave glowing reviews of but my mean was so nice I plain forgot exactly what she had."

"My wife and I were recommended this restaurant by the concierge at The Basil Street Hotel. We could not have been more delighted with his choice. Good seafood is what we asked him for and wonderful seafood is what we enjoyed. The "off the beaten path" Bentley's is a gem with terrific service and excellent food and drink. Although they did not offer as many choices as a larger establishment may have, we felt that their selection was delightful and perfectly complete for our tastes. "If you do only one thing, do it well." Bentley's does it very well. Highly recommended!"

"The food experience @ Bentley's has been excellent for us! I had the sea bream for main, beautifully cooked, and my favourite has to be the rhubarb and yoghurt sorbet dessert, accompanied with a glass of incredibly tasting Jurancon 2004. Amazing wine list in general, congratulations to the sommelier! No complaint about the staff, all went very smoothly. I would definitely go back, and for those who had a mishap the first time, you should definitely give it another chance!"
